Daniel,
What a great story! We're certainly proud of our Aztecs (both men and women return to the NCAAs this year) but even more proud of our 260,000 alumni who contribute to the vitality of the state. Collectively, SDSU and its alumni generate $6.5 billion annual for California's economy. Our alums lead major companies such as WD-40, Jack in the Box, Inc., IHOP, AMN Healthcare and Costco.
As it was when you attended, a CSU education is still a bargain - but that doesn't mean we don't have students who struggle with the costs to attend the university. State support for our public universities is evaporating. SDSU's appropriation has decreased from $225 million in 2007-08 to an anticipated $108 million for 2012-13, a 52-percent reduction.
It's time our state began reinvesting in higher education. SDSU and our CSU universities should be known nationally for how they propel California forward.
