Every century has its problems and ours is pollution and various other issues which do not help the environment at all. Quite the contrary, all of our issues only harm the environment and while the adults are doing their very best (some of them, at least), to change the environment for the better, all is not lost. The youth is also active, doing things in their own way, helping combat the negative environmental changes. Here are a couple of ways the youth is helping contribute to the environment.

Digital Awareness

This being the 21st century, it has its ways of communication and the youth is using it daily. Mobile phones, or rather, smartphones, are the weapon of choice and there isn’t a young person who is unfamiliar with one. We can browse social media in seconds and while some people look for photos of their peers or supermodels, others post about environmental issues, raising awareness for problems which have been happening for a while and still are. Neither social media or the technology behind it is bad, as it all depends on the user. 

Promoting Reforestation

Planting trees is one of the ways we can help the world. If young people can help organize an entire city to plant hundreds of trees, then imagine what some people in power could be able to do. The youth have proven that they can mobilize and help plant more trees, which is literally helping save the planet, one tree at a time.

Promoting a More Sustainable Lifestyle

Young people all over the world are becoming more and more sustainable. They are purchasing glass bottles instead of plastic and are using them as long as possible. Others are recycling and refraining from eating too much or purchasing processed food. Some have gone vegan or vegetarian, thus affecting the meat industry. Meat isn’t bad, as it helped us survive, but the horrors that are large animal farms, that is a different story.

Esports Organizations Helping the Environment

Some organizations tied to esports, which is primarily played by young people, have started activities which help the environment. Some of these companies build their brands on literally helping the environment. FlyQuest, an organization competing in League of Legends, recently had their TreeQuest and SeaQuest events, which in turn helped with planting of trees and cleaning up seas.

Whether by addressing some issues in person or by promoting awareness, the youth is active and is using their knowledge of technology and social media to help spread the word and affect the environment in a positive way. With more and more young people joining in the fight, the world is likely to head in a better direction in the coming years.
